My name is Ștefan GHIȚAN.
I was born in 1968 in Craiova, Romania.
Who am I?
A contemporary Romanian sculptor, adept of existentialist and metaphorical sculpture.
Where do I get my inspiration from?
Brancusi says that inspiration is that state in which we do things, and then the external source of inspiration can be almost anything. So in conclusion, anything I see with my eyes can be a source of inspiration at some point.
Creativity, according to Einstein, is intelligence that has fun in silence, and Da Vinci says that all knowledge comes from the heart.
If I are to listen to Sigmund Freud, man needs a dream to face reality. And since reality is not always pleasant, I like to give shape to dreams, crystallized ideas that are strong enough to face it and make it acceptable. And an idea, the more it is worked on, the more strength it gains and transmits more energy. This is what I want to convey through my works.
Art is a form of creative expression through which people express their feelings, thoughts, and ideas. They are created from materials such as wood, metal, ceramics, paper, and others.
What materials do I use?
I have always worked and I work with various materials, each with its own qualities.
For example, natural stone is the ideal combination of elegance and durability.
Wood is a warm, natural, versatile and durable material that is easy to work with.
Bronze is harder and more resistant while offering more possibilities for expressing plasticity, and metals are malleable.
Sometimes, I also use newer materials, such as plastic or various resins, which can bring extra modernity to the sculptures.
Sculpture is an art of volumes in space that tries to strike a chord with human beings through the spatial exposure of different real objects.
“My art is life itself, life detached from life.” Constantin Brancusi
